NO DIRECT FLIGHT NBO (20 – 29th November 2020)
No Direct Flight (NDF) is a landmark cross-platform film season that explores the impact of internet culture on Africa and African diaspora visual motifs that have been virally traded between Africa, the US, and Europe, giving rise to a bold, black, globally influential aesthetic. Running between 20th to 29th November this programme will screen features, shorts and music videos, Virtual Reality (VR) installations, and new short film commissions managed in partnership with Nowness.
No Direct Flight will also explore ways in which new media is shaping African perception and appreciation of the nature, beauty, and value of artistic expressions and representations of African origin. Developed collaboratively by the British Film Institute (BFI), the British Council, and Black Star Film Festival Philadelphia, the virtual edition is curated and presented by Akoia & Company in partnership with creatives in Kenya, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the UK.
The film showcases will be available on Vimeo for the 10-day season. There will be Watch Parties and live Q&As with filmmakers on Facebook! All links and passwords will be provided on day passes. Get your all-access day pass on Eventbrite.
